Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in human plasma, serving as a carrier for hormones, lipids, and other substances like steroids and thyroid hormones. It also plays a key role in regulating plasma pH and maintaining osmotic pressure.
Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) uses gene therapy vectors to deliver therapeutic genes into cells, altering gene expression to treat diseases. CGT includes ex vivo cell therapies and in vivo gene therapies, with a focus on cancer and rare diseases. Plant-derived recombinant human serum albumin shows promise in CGT as a cell culture component and gene therapy enhancer, with potential to become a key material in the field.
Beyotime's newly launched Recombinant Human Serum Albumin from Rice (P4186/P4188/P4190) is recombinant HSA derived from rice endosperm cells, offering an animal-free alternative compared to bovine serum albumin (BSA) or plasma-derived human albumin (pHSA), eliminating the risks of animal-derived IgG, hormones, and potential animal virus contamination. Among them, P4188 (≥99%, BioReagent) is more pure and stable than P4186 (≥90%, Reagent grade), better applicable to cell culture; P4190 (≥99%, BioPlus) offers even higher purity, lower endotoxin levels, and is free of nucleases and proteases.
