Biotin is a natural small molecule that often does not interfere with the biological function of macromolecules. It is widely used in the biotin-(strept)avidin system and is also an important cofactor for carboxylases in metabolic pathways [1-2]. The binding of biotin to avidin or streptavidin helps connect target molecules (antibodies, nucleic acids, protein A, etc.) to labeling systems (enzymes, fluorescent probes, etc.). This complex can be used in assays such as immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, Southern and Northern blot, etc. This method is also suitable for the purification and characterization of target molecules.
Beyotime's newly released Biotinylated Protein Pull-Down Kit (Agarose Resin) (P0654) and Biotinylated Protein Pull-Down Kit (Magnetic Beads) (P0658) provides a novel and efficient way to bind biotinylated proteins, antibodies or other active biomolecules of interest to streptavidin agarose resin or magnetic beads, and then use them to capture the target protein or other binding molecules. This approach is widely used in the study of protein interactions, signaling pathways, and disease mechanisms.
