| Application | Stoddard solvent is a substitute of Xylene (defined as a hazardous chemical in China), used as a medium for clearing and deparaffinating steps in staining and tissue processing, or as a dry cleaning agent and a solvent in some types of photocopier toners, adhesives, aerosols, asphalt products, printing inks, wood preservatives, lacquers, varnishes, and industrial cleaning and degreasing applications [1][2]. |
| General Description | Stoddard Solvent (white spirit/mineral spirit) is a petroleum distillate composed of a complex mixture of linear and branched alkanes (paraffins), cycloalkanes, and aromatic hydrocarbons. It is a colorless, flammable liquid. It is also known as dry cleaning safety solvent, petroleum solvent, varnoline and xylene substitute. |
